The last in our week 1 announcement series! What a rollercoaster week we have had. We are grateful for the outpouring of support and love!
All of you know Matt and Leslie very well but may not know much about their past and how they got here. If you've been a member for a while, you likely know Julie and Trent as well. There are, however, quite a few people who have joined over the past 3 years who they've not yet met. And only a handful of you know Brad. Here's a brief blurb on each partner:
I am a Deputy Sherriff and was introduced to CrossFit in the Fall of 2008 by Coach Rick while attending some combative training camp in Virginia Beach. The WOD involved a 400m sprint then an AMRAP of thrusters and burpees. I got my butt kicked and I remember having to scale the weight mid-workout. Needless to say, I was hooked and got serious about CrossFit in 2009. I then earned my CrossFit L1 in 2010 and began coaching, programming, and competing in all things CrossFit. I love the CrossFit 8085 athlete community and what we have all worked to build there. I’m excited to partner with our friends in building CrossFit High Bar and ensuring our community stays strong well into the future!
I was introduced to CrossFit by friends back in 2009, several months after I had my first baby, Collin. In the past, working out wasn’t really at the top of my to-do's. I gained a significant amount of weight during pregnancy and needed to find something that I could consistently add to my daily life. Fast forward 11 years and a set of twins later and I'm still doing the daily workout. Our community at 8085 has been such an important part of my families lives. We have developed the greatest friends and I can't wait to see what the future holds next. We have a great group of people involved in launching this next chapter of our CrossFit story. CrossFit High Bar is going to be the strongest community around.
A friend introduced me to CrossFit in 2014 at Lions Pride (before "CF8085"), I immediately became addicted to the sport and have continued since. After moving to Tennessee I was able to check out several CF gyms in the area until I finally found the one I wanted to be part of. CF starts as a group of friends who grow to become your family. When I was offered the opportunity by a few of my old friends to help the members of CF8085 succeed I seized the opportunity. I look forward to dropping in to CrossFit High Bar soon!
Julie and Trent
We were introduced to CrossFit back in 2012 after seeing our neighbors, Beth and Kacey Ross, workout in their garage. Initially, Julie was skeptical so I spent my time trying to make the WODS work at Bob's North. It wasn't long after that, Julie started joining me and falling in love with the program as well. I cringe to think about our movement patterns and lack of skill back then as YouTube was our primary coach when the Ross's weren't available. Julie recently got her L1 certification and I have acquired an L2 and a handful of specialty certs.
Over these 8 years, it has grown into the most important part of our life. In 2017 we moved to Charlotte and started a new life and found a new box, CrossFit Jane. Some of our best friends were in EVV and we remained as close to CF8085 as possible and always dropped in during the holidays. It has been a dream since 2013 to own a gym but never made sense until recently. With a return to the Evansville area (for my "real" job), we had no doubt we would jump right back in to CF8085 as members and occasional coach. However, the stars aligned and we were given the opportunity to do more. Being able to be a part of creating a new gym with an already awesome community will be an amazing experience.
We thank all of our old friends for welcoming us back with open arms. For those of you we've not yet met, we can't wait to meet you! And to everyone, please know we're in this for the love of our community and are passionate about making it successful. We encourage any and all of you to reach out with any suggestions or advice!
